Elections

The Libertarian Party of Arizona is the Arizona affiliate of the Libertarian Party. The state chair is Michael Kielsky. Between the November election in 2008 and April 1, 2009 the number of voters registered as Libertarians in Arizona, rose 11.6%, for a total of 20,256 voters [1]. Currently the party needs to have 20,587 (331 more) registrations by November 2009 in order to have automatic ballot access in 2010. The number needed equals two-thirds of 1% of total voter registrations, so the necessary requirement fluctuates [2].

Update: As of June 1, 2010 the number of registered Libertarians in the state of Arizona was 24,328 - well over the minimum - 20,624 - required to remain a recognized party. http://www.azsos.gov/election/voterreg/2010-06-01.pdf Five of the state's 15 counties also have county ballot access. Of the others Santa Cruz County is closest to gaining county ballot access needing only a handful more registered Libertarians. A by-mail effort is under weigh to register the needed number - 145 (personal knowledge of William Munsil, Libertarian Activist.)
